OUR COMMITMENTS
OUR SOCIAL PROJECTSNangabo Vocational Training InstituteNangabo Vocational Training Institute is a village community centre devoted to the training of young girls to become full participants in their family and their community. Started in 1970, it was a time when most girls in the rural area were pulled out of school before reaching puberty. Nangbo Vocational Training Institute aims to provide alternative channel of education and tool these girls with skillsets to help them in their future family lives. The denial of further education for these girls was to prove detrimental to their future family lives in a rapidly developing country. These girls become become housewives rearing the future generations of the country were unable to help shape their children's early childhood learning. By limiting the education of the girl child, society was limiting the essential stimuli to the early child abilities. We now see a lot of improvement but there is still a long way to go in these efforts. The Institute runs a kindergarten with about 65 children of ages 3 to 6 years together with a 2-year residential training for about 40 girls. In the first year, all girls take undergo mandatory basic training in available courses; which are namely Early Child Care (to prepare them as future mothers), Computer literacy, Catering (nutrition centred), Agriculture (simple practices) Tailoring & Weaving, Sports and Community Services. In the final year, the girls specialise in one of the core courses. Kindergarten teaching being one of the courses based on a hand on experience. Over the years, EastWest Innovations Uganda Limited had helped to set up a school library and is currently assisting in bringing in more curriculum instructions and instructors from developed countries like Singapore.
